Transportation - FCPS Families

As a magnet school serving Northern Virginia, TJ uses a geographic depot model as opposed to individual neighborhood service. Families residing in Fairfax County may register here for transportation depots.

Even if your child does not plan to take a school bus next year, please fill out the form above and confirm no transportation is needed.  Note: families at TJHSST who do not reside within Fairfax County do not need to fill out this form. See the section below.

Questions regarding FCPS transportation may be directed to Milagro Perez-Tobar (@email). We are committed to ensuring reasonable access to transportation for all families.

Transportation - Non-FCPS Families

Families residing outside Fairfax County will be communicated with directly by their sending jurisdictions. Do not contact FCPS transportation offices. Here is contact information for each non-FCPS sending jurisdiction.

Course Selection

As of today’s date, over 300 families have already completed the Class of 2025 Course Selection document.

If you have not yet completed the Class of 2025 Course Selection form, please do so as soon as possible and no later than Wednesday, July 14

After we’ve had an opportunity to enter the preliminary course selections into the Student Information System (SIS), you will receive an email communication verifying the courses in which your child has been registered. Please understand that this will take time as we must manually enter the course selections for each student. For those families new to FCPS, this verification email will also contain your student’s FCPS ID# which replaces the applicant ID.  Your student will use this FCPS ID# throughout their time at TJHSST.

Summer School Enrichment Opportunities

This summer we are offering a math enrichment opportunity with the use of ALEKS software. We encourage ALL entering freshmen to consider participating in this diagnostic and skill-building opportunity.

ALEKS starts with a diagnostic to assess students' current math skill level. It then creates a dynamic, individualized sequence of interventions for each student as they navigate through algebra, geometry and pre-calculus.

Participating in ALEKS is optional, but we are encouraging all incoming freshmen to enroll this summer. There are 3 modules. As you complete one you advance to the next. All students must start with module one but do not have to commit to all 3 modules. Progress may vary per student, depending on previous math experience.

Modules are one-week long and will be offered from July 13-Aug 13. The majority of the modules will be asynchronous except for the first day. Office hours will be available for up to 2 hours each day.  Registration details can be found here. This enrichment opportunity is free of charge and not for credit.

Students are also welcome to register for any remaining Humanities enrichment modules that run between July 12-30. Registration details can be found here

In preparation for your summer enrichment opportunities, we wanted to ensure you have access to the technology resources necessary to be successful.

*If you are enrolled in Research Statistics I (RS1), you are able to pick up a laptop at TJ on Monday, July 12th from 10 am – 12 pm at Door 7 in the Kiss & Ride lane. During this pickup we will ensure that you have access to the software required for this class. Please note this process can take up to 15 minutes to complete. A member of the Tech Team will walk you through this process.

If you are not enrolled in RS1 and need access to a laptop for summer learning enrichment opportunities, please follow this link to sign up for a date and time so we can prepare ahead of your assigned slot. Please remember, access to a web browser or a personal device will work for many enrichment offerings. You are welcome to use your personal device for any summer program. If you are not enrolled in any summer programs, FCPSOn laptops will be provided to all freshmen the first week school. If you have any other/specific questions or require other technology such as a MiFi (Mobile Internet Access), please reach out to the Tech Team at @email.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Dr. Shane Torbert, Math/CS Division Manager (@email) or Volita Russell, Summer School Principal (@email).
