May Spotlight:  Celebrating Plans and Planning for Summer

Class of 2021 #celebrateyourplan

Congratulations to our Class of 2021!  As we prepare for the Class of 2021 graduation on June 5, we look back on all they've accomplished and the resilience they've shown throughout this challenging period and this academic year.  tjSTAR presentations on May 17, 2021 highlighted their senior research and demonstrated to all, and particularly to our underclassmen, that the Class of 2021's  TJ journey may have had a few more twists in the road than expected, yet they have succeeded and their research was impressive and awe-inspiring.  We wish them all well and celebrate them as they continue on their journeys post-TJ!

Class of 2022

The updated edition of the Common Application for over 900 colleges that use the platform will open on August 1, 2021 for the Class of 2022.    Students can create accounts before this date and their demographic information will rollover to the new edition.  Essay prompts are already available for the main essay that many colleges require and can be viewed online.  The Common Application has a helpful guide to how to approach the essays here.

Class of 2023 and 2024

Service learning makes connections between the classroom and the community and can be a great way to get involved in your community in the summer.   FCPS has a student-facing Google site dedicated to Service Learning with helpful videos:  Service Learning Google Site for student support

Volunteer Fairfax has a wealth of information about Service Learning opportunities.  Look around in your communities as well for other ways to engage.
