TJHSST Registration and Transportation Information
Current FCPS Students
Currently enrolled FCPS students need only accept the offer of admission from the admissions office to register for TJHSST. Student information and records will be transferred internally from your base school to TJHSST over the summer.
Non-FCPS Students
Students coming from private schools, homeschool and all non-FCPS public schools must complete the FCPS registration forms to enroll at TJHSST.
All students have one and only one enrolling parent. The enrolling parent is responsible for all educational decision making and is the primary point of contact for the school. The enrolling parent is the parent with whom a student resides a preponderance (most) of the time. This parent is designated at the time of initial registration in FCPS and for all other changes of enrollment.
Registration Events (for Non-FCPS Families)
How to Register: Registration is done in-person. Registration details were communicated to you in our initial letter. Those who were offered admission on May 10 should schedule their appointment for Monday, May 20.
Once the non-FCPS family has accepted the offer of admission and we have given you the go ahead to come to TJ to complete the registration, the enrolling parent must be present; students do not need to accompany the parent during registration. Please park in the visitor parking spaces in front of the building and bring the required registration forms and documents to the main entrance, Door 1.
Registration Forms - Please complete and print the forms listed below and bring them with you for Registration
The enrolling parent of students coming from a private school, homeschool and all non-FCPS public schools must present and sign the following forms in person during a registration event or appointment with the registrar. We advise you to print and complete these forms prior to attending the Registration Event.
The enrolling parent must also present a valid, current, government-issued form of identification at the time of registration.

If a birth certificate is not available, an affidavit (FCPS form SS/SE 302) with substantiating documentation is required of all students.
Proof of Residency (Private / Homeschool registrants only)

Important Information Regarding Residency
An accepted student is eligible to register for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology if the student is currently living with a parent/legal guardian who resides full-time in a residence located in the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, or Prince William, or the cities of Falls Church or Fairfax. Residency in one of the above districts must continue throughout the four years of study at TJHSST. Due to a specific funding arrangement with participating school divisions, a change in residence from one jurisdiction to another must be approved by the Admissions Office to ensure continued enrollment at TJHSST. Proof of residency may be requested at any time while the student attends TJHSST.
Information Regarding Transportation
Transportation to TJHSST is done via depot system. That is the case for both Fairfax and out-of-county students. What that means is each district will select several locations (aka depots) that they will pick up TJ students from. The depots are usually schools or recreation centers in most cases. Students will be expected to be dropped off at that depot at a certain time, where a bus will pick them up and take them to TJ. The same process happens for pick-up students going home for the day will be dropped off at the bus depot by their bus to be picked up by their parents/guardians. Families in all districts will have the opportunity to choose their depot for both drop-off and pick-up.
Fairfax County Residents need to accept their offer to TJ before requesting transportation. Fairfax County residents who have accepted the offer, will receive a Bus Depot Survey Form in early May.
The bus depot survey will show you the locations of all the bus depots for the 2024-25 school year and allow you to make a choice. Families can choose different depot selections for pick-up in the morning and drop-off in the afternoon if they wish.
For all FCPS Transportation questions, please reach out to Jessica Nally at [email protected].
