Course Description: Student-driven, project-based learning environmental-science course focused on using technology to study schoolyard biodiversity, the environment, and different organisms, and practicing engineering design by creating their own organisms for a chance to win survival competitions!

Name of Course: Intro to Oceanography

Course Description: Learn about the ocean world and how we explore it. Observe and interact with fish, turtles, and crayfish in the TJ lab. Fun projects and crafts. May include field trips.

Name of Course: 3-D Art
Subject Area: Technology
Course Description: Students will work independently and collaboratively to create 3D art with 3D printers and laser engravers. Students will work with cloud-based CAD software to design their pieces and learn about 3D printers. No experience necessary. Students should take home at least three art objects in one week session.

Name of Course: To the Moon!
Subject Area: Science
Course Description: An introduction to the solar system and the universe. In addition to hands-on activities, students will be able to spend time participating in shows in TJ’s state-of-the-art digital planetarium.

Name of Course: Learning Java with Graphics and GUI
Subject Area: Computer Science
Course Description: Students learn basic Java programming skills by using Graphics objects and Graphic User Interface (GUI). Through the course, students will practice how to build decision trees, defining loops, and use arrays. Students will also learn fundamental and essential concepts, such as instantiation, inheritance, abstract, and polymorphism, in programming. At the end of the course, students will use their experience to create a game.
