andrew reidCongratulations to Speech and Drama Teacher Andrew Reid who was recognized at the annual FCPS Honors event as the 2019 Region 2 Outstanding Secondary New Teacher and one of five finalists for this year's Outstanding Secondary New Teacher Award!

Stepping into the classroom with an eccentric bow tie and colorful socks, Mr. Reid has brought a new energy to the theater arts program. His aim in the classroom is to create an environment in which his students feel safe, unburdened and free to express themselves. In a world where students feel enormous pressure, Mr. Reid offers a time and place where there isn’t a need to worry. Even outside the classroom, he has been praised on the two shows he directed in which parents were elated to see the genuine happiness in the performance. Mr. Reid is always aiming to go beyond furthering his students’ knowledge of the arts by also creating a community of compassionate young adults.

Congratulations also to the other Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology staff members recognized at FCPS Honors!
