TJHSST Graduation 2019
Q: When is TJHSST graduation for the Class of 2019?
A: Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for parents and guests. Graduates need to report at 5:30 p.m. to the Loading Dock.
Q: How long is the ceremony going to last?
A: The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.
Q: Where is graduation?
Q: When is graduation rehearsal?
A: Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at TJHSST in Gym 1. Students, please be seated by 8:55 a.m. Graduation rehearsal is for students only.
Q: Where can I find information about DVDs and photograph sales?
A: Video sales of the event will be available and can be purchased via Memories Videography. Go to the online DVD order form. Paper copies of the order form are available for pickup in Student Services.
Photographs will be taken on the night of the event by the same vendor we use for the yearbook. They will send proofs and ordering information to parents via the address we have on file at the school shortly after the ceremony.
Q: What is the Service Learning Cord?
A: Students who have completed 40 hours of approved service learning over their four years at TJHSST will be permitted to wear a Service Learning Cord with their cap and gown. All documentation of proof of a student's 40 hours with their reflections needs to be in their x2VOL (Naviance Student) by May 14, 2019 for approval.
Q: Will there be seating for persons with disabilities?
A: Yes, there is plenty of accessible seating and parking at Eagle Bank Arena.
Q: I have a family member who requires ASL translation. Are services available for signing?
A: Yes. Please e-mail the Director of Student Services as soon as possible to arrange for these services.
Q: What should I wear under my gown?
A: FCPS DRESS CODE IS STILL IN EFFECT
- Gentlemen should wear a collared shirt (we suggest open collar and no tie); avoid sneakers, and flip flops.
- Ladies should wear comfortable shoes; avoid heels, sneakers, open toe shoes and flip flops.
Q: How many guests are permitted at graduation?
A: All of them! There are no tickets required and there is plenty of seating.
Q: When will I receive my cap and gown?
A: After graduation rehearsal on June 6, 2019. Please be aware that if you have any financial obligations you will need to clear those with the finance office before you will be provided a cap and gown.
Q: Can/Should I iron my gown?
A: No. It will melt. Hang it in the bathroom and turn on a hot shower for about 20-30 minutes and the wrinkles should fall right out.
Q: Can I decorate my cap?
A: No. Decorated caps will be confiscated.
Q: What side of the cap does the tassel go on?
A: It will go on the RIGHT side. This will allow the photographer the ability to have a clear shot of your face when you are presented with the diploma and shaking hands with the Principal.
Q: Can I bring my cell phone with me?
A: No. Cell phones will be confiscated and can be picked up the following week by appointment only. Please leave all belongings with your parents or locked in your car. Car keys will be the only items allowed to be in pockets.
